Brian Brown on Blood and Gore and Enron… Oh my!

Al Gore, who hilariously once claimed to have invented the Internet, now denies— in the face of powerful evidence to the contrary— that he is in a position to make an immense fortune from global warming mitigation efforts. Ian Wilhelm, a Chronicle of Philanthropy reporter, asked the private equity firm Generation Investment Management, LLP (GIM) to respond to accusations that Al Gore, David Blood, et al., were profiting from the trading of carbon credits.
Goreb’s non-profit Alliance for Climate Protection plans to spend $300 million on an advertising campaign aimed at convincing the American public that they urgently need to embrace (economy-crippling) controls on carbon emissions and press politicians to act. Gore happens to be chairman and founder of GIM, a firm that invests money from institutions and wealthy investors in companies that are becoming environmentally-friendly, to use so-called “greenspeak.”
Gore’s partner at GIM, David Blood, told MarketWatch last year that we really are focused on delivering outstanding customer results for our clients. We’re also clear, avowed advocates on climate change or on sustainability.”
The article also states that:
Blood sees climate change creating an entirely new business stratum, he said, similar to that surrounding the so-called Internet economy though he would prefer that it bypass the latter’s bubble phase. “If you think about the challenges the world faces over the next 25 years,” Blood said, “these factors will be integral to how business operates, and by extension how the media thinks about challenges, how civil society thinks about challenges, and how we all operate.” [emphasis added]
Huh? Integral… think… operate? Let me decode those code words for you. First, let me show you the generally accepted dictionary definitions:

The way Blood and Gore are talking, they sure sound like they plan to make a lot of money off of global warming! The operative word is flung right in our collective faces: Generation Investment Management. Not Generation Global Warming Management, not even Generation Environmental Management. What arrogance!
In testimony before Congress on March 21, 2007, Gore, with his slick politician smile, touted a scheme to ration energy while in the process enriching those businesses who helped invent the scheme:
- In a typical career politician “shuck and jive,” Gore endeavors to confuse with extraneous information, while downplaying and declining to discuss the role that some elitists have played in crafting his Cap-and-Trade C02 trading schemes and carbon swapping systems.
- Gore tries to put a lid in Congressional committee testimony on a infrequently reported but very important subject in the global warming, carbon-tax ‘debate’— the new derivatives bubble in the so-called green-energy credit-swap market.
- The point from Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) that is gaveled over by the chairman and stuttered-over by Gore is that many of the Congressmen are ‘concerned about turning over our energy economy over to firms like Enron and some of these Wall Street firms that wrecked out financial economy.’
- Gore denies that Ken Lay and other CEOs developed the carbon scheme: “I didn’t know him well enough to call him ‘Kenny-boy’.
Au contraire, Al! Former Enron Chairman Ken Lay and his company, Enron, contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to assist President Clinton and Vice President Al Gore.
- “[Ken] Lay contributed $11,000 to former President Bill Clinton during his two campaigns; Vice President Al Gore got $13,750 from Enron in the 2000 election. During Clinton’s eight years in office, the company and Lay contributed about $900,000 to the Democratic Party.”(Stephen J. Hedges, et al., “Enron ‘Players’ Worked D.C. Ties,” Chicago Tribune, January 13, 2002)
- Enron sponsored a private meeting with senior Gore aides During the 2000 campaign. “In what one Enron official recalled as a desire to ‘have Enron’s message become part of the energy and telecom policy of the Gore campaign,’ Enron organized a dinner in the private Nest Lounge of the Willard Hotel, two blocks from the White House, that included top Gore and Enron officials as well as executives in the high-tech industry.”(Richard L. Berke, “Enron Pursued Plan to Forge Close Ties to Gore Campaign,” The New York Times, February 18, 2002)
- Enron “Paid Large Sums” to Gore friends and aides. “Records show Enron paid large sums to enlist the lobbying aid of former Tennessee Valley Authority Director Johnny Hayes and another Tennessee friend of former Vice President Al Gore. Enron paid $200,000 to Sideview Partners, Inc., a company headed by Mr. Hayes, for lobby work involving TVA earlier this year, according to Mr. Hayes’ midyear 2001 lobby activities report.” Enron also paid $500,000 to the Nashville law firm of Charles Bone, another longtime Gore friend and fund-raiser. “Also registered to lobby on behalf of Enron this year was former Vice President Gore’s former chief of staff, Jack Quinn. Disclosure reports for the first half of 2001 indicate Mr. Quinn’s lobbying firm, Quinn, Gillespie $10,000.”(Andy Sher, “Ex-TVA Director, Gore Friend, Got Large Sums to Aid Enron,” Chattanooga Times/Chattanooga Free Press, December 7, 2001)
- Several senior Enron officials “spent election night at Vice President Gore’s headquarters in Nashville.”(Dan Morgan, “Enron Also Courted Democrats,” The Washington Post, January 13, 2002)
These are just a few of the dozens of examples which totally and completely refute Gore’s claim.

In critically pointed questioning at this hearing, Scalise asked Gore about a 1997 meeting he had with Enron CEO Ken Lay and about reports that Gore was connected to Goldman Sachs, which Scalise said raises serious questions about whether the cap-and-trade scheme will enrich some while causing huge job losses.
The congressman plied Gore with questions about scientific testimony Scalise said disputes Gore’s predictions of enormous environmental damage without drastic new controls on carbon emissions.
Gore said that the danger posed by global warming is no longer an open issue and suggested that Scalise was being “lied to” by the heads of CO2 polluting companies who covered up their own industry study 14 years ago confirming the environmental consequences of their companies’ pollution.
There are people who still believe that the moon landing was staged on a movie lot in Arizona,” Gore said.
Such is a typical response from people who are lying. They try to shift the emphasis away from them and equate detractors to those who are considered to be, well, nutty. Similar subjects include the Kennedy assassination, UFO’s, and the favorite, if Hitler is still alive.
Well perhaps Hitler is still alive, in the persona of Albert Gore, Jr. and his minions who are determined to create a global oligarchy.
At the hearing, Congressman Scalise didn’t back down, however.
I know you like giving those cutesy anecdotes, but this is not a cutesy issue,” Scalise said.
He asked Gore about his meeting with Lay, who died in 2006 after his conviction for securities fraud. Why should America trust a cap-and-trade system– that will produce “big winners and big losers”– that was developed by companies with dubious reputations, he asked Gore.
Gore accused Scalise of trying to assert “guilt by association.”

The New Enron
General Electric is among the latter. GE stubbornly adheres to climate change alarmism because it has placed a huge financial bet on carbon-free energy sources, such as wind, that are threatened by domestic oil production. Climate change fears and tight oil supplies are the driving force for renewable energy. Increasing the supply of oil will reduce its price, making wind power even less competitive, even with generous government subsidies.
GE CEO Jeff Immelt, in hot water for poor stock performance, can’t afford to lose his gamble on renewable energy.
Faced with this threat, Immelt is shrewdly using his NBC news empire to promote climate change fears and wind turbines as a sound energy alternative.
Al Gore was the featured guest on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on July 20, 2008. For almost the entire program, Gore spoke about climate change, bashed oil exploration and touted his idea to generate the country’s electricity needs from carbon-free sources, including wind turbines. Gore did support the use of coal, but only if it was associated with carbon capture and sequestration— another GE technology.

GE’s cable business channel CNBC has also promoted wind energy in its news programming. T. Boone Pickens was given air time on Squawk Box, CNBC’s early morning news program, to present his energy plan. A major thrust of the Pickens plan involves a significant increase in the use of natural gas and wind– two areas in which Pickens has major investments. Indeed, Pickens is building the world’s largest wind farm in Texas, and his company recently ordered about $2 billion worth of GE turbines.
While Pickens has said he is for all forms of domestic energy, including oil exploration, the imagery in his TV ad campaign– burning oil fields contrasting with wind turbines on green fields– clearly denigrates oil. During the commercial, Pickens says:
I’m T. Boone Pickens. I’ve been an oil man my whole life, but this is one emergency we can’t drill our way out of. And I have a plan.“
The scheming of Immelt and Gore undermine our national interest. For economic and national security reasons Americans desperately need natural resource development in our own backyard.
Gore and General Electric are in bed with the Obama. Together the 3 will make millions scamming Americans with a phony cap and trade scheme designed to rape the wealth of millions of Americans and companies due to green costs charged to energy companies. Did the Fed ever spend the taxes collected from sulfur dioxide permits or was it a rich man’s scheme to bilk billions from the public and shift the money to other government programs?
So I ask: Will Obama and Al Gore team up and author a Radiation Cap and Trade Tax bill to save us from nuclear fallout?
The answer is that it’s highly unlikely. With all the fallout (pun intended) from the Japanese Fukushima nuclear reactor disaster, Al Gore has remained conspicuously silent. Why? Well I’ll tell you why. These reactors were designed and constructed by none other that GE!
According to ABC News, thirty-five years ago, Dale G. Bridenbaugh and two of his colleagues at General Electric resigned from their jobs after becoming increasingly convinced that the nuclear reactor design they were reviewing– was so flawed it could lead to a devastating accident.
The problems we identified in 1975 were that, in doing the design of the containment, they did not take into account the dynamic loads that could be experienced with a loss of coolant. The impact loads the containment would receive by this very rapid release of energy could tear the containment apart and create an uncontrolled release.” Bridenbaugh told ABC News in the interview.
This story, and others like it, have been quietly “killed” by all of the major mainstream media outlets. Why? Not only because GE has a high ownership stake outlets like NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, and local television and radio stations, GE also has deep advertising pockets, and the other media organizations are certainly aware of this.
With such opposition, there is no money to be made in taxing radiation. Gore and his stooges won’t tax oil companies. Why? Because subjecting them to direct taxes won’t make them very happy and any corporations that find themselves subject to Gore’s eventual cap and trade scam, will just pass the costs on to you, the consumer. The only one they really want to tax is YOU. It has nothing to do with so-called greenhouse gasses or the environment whatsoever. It has everything to do with the globalists controlling YOU on the path to a one-world government!
